EDITOR: Last evening, Tuesday, May 3, 2022, I attended the County Board of Commissioners meeting in person. There were constituents in the audience and maybe 12 constituents on Zoom for the meeting. Here are a few of the agenda items: A conflict of Interest Regarding Solar Ordinance: Commissioner Bob Barron has a conflict of interest as a vested property owner. The leaked draft

EDITOR: Roe, Roe, Yada,yada, yada! I’m tired of the breathless ranting and raving about the leaked draft re: Roe vs. Wade by the Supreme Court. First of all, I think everyone should be upset that someone, or several someones, felt that they should leak this draft. This should infuriate every decent American. Then, as the news broke about the leak, how do hundreds of protestors show up on a moments notice at the Supreme Court steps? Stiehm’s political slant

EDITOR: I just finished reading the Daily Press from April 29, 2022. The editorial page is my favorite read, my problem is with the Jamie Stiehm editorials the latest (April 29, 2022) brought me to write this letter. The problem really begins about three-quarters of the way, in the first column. She says remember when getting caught lying on tape was a problem, I remember President Bill Clinton lying under oath about having sex with Monica Lewinsky and getting away with it. EDITOR: After reading Mr Jason Dubord’s letter to the editor in April 28, 2022 Daily Press, I had to take a ride down Ludington Street. Yes, Ukrainian colors are displayed by someone with strips of yellow and blue on light poles. I did not notice another nation’s flag “flying” anywhere on Ludington Street. Now, I will add, I support Ukraine and do fly the Ukrainian flag, except during Easter. EDITOR: There’s no denying, we were in the start of a pandemic and the government chose to close all church services, declaring church, God if you will, as non-essential. Has the government ever declared God as non-essential prior to this governmental push to establish a cancel culture and imposing never-before-seen impositions on constitutional freedoms? Cuts would be severe blow for library

EDITOR: It has come to my attention that the city council of Escanaba will be deliberating a proposed budget cut of 40% for the Escanaba Public Library. A budget cut at this time, with a struggling economy and the remaining effects of the pandemic, would be a severe blow to the educational and informational resources of the city. A reduction of the size proposed would be devastating to the library and the citizens of the city.
