Braves sweep Redettes
MARQUETTE — Gladstone’s Tia Schone shined here Wednesday as she pitched her first career varsity no-hitter against Marquette in a 12-0 nightcap win that completed a sweep after an 18-2 victory in the opener.
“Tia Schone pitched with great confidence tonight,” Braves coach Rick Pepin said. “She had multiple pitches working well. Watching her throw her first varsity career no-hitter was just fantastic!”
The Braves racked up 12 hits total in the nightcap, with Reese Herioux grabbing two and four RBIs.
Lauren Sundquist, Rylee Gerow, Montgomery Pepin and Schone all collected two hits apiece.
Schone struck out 11 and walked one.
In the opener, the Braves finished with 16 hits. Montgomery Pepin picked up three hits, and Schone, Gerow, Sam Dierlick, Aliana Martinez and Kenzingtin Pepin all finished with two apiece.
Montgomery Pepin manned the mound for the Braves, giving up three hits while striking out eight.
Gladstone visits Menominee Wednesday.
