Brayden Lundquist celebrates birthday with pair of feature wins

ESCANABA — It was a good birthday for Brayden Lundquist at the Escanaba Motor Speedway Saturday Night as he picked up a pair of feature wins in the 600 sprints and in the street stocks.

In the 600 sprints, Lundquist started on the pole and never trailed in the race. Lundquist also picked up the heat win in a wire-to-wire finish. Caden Tolliver came in second after last week’s win and Jayger Quinn finished third. Bentley Richer and Chase Richer rounded out the top five.

In the street stock class, Lundquist won again from the pole position and again was a winner in heat race action. Billy Bowden came in second place and won the other heat race and Drake Degnan finished third. Tony Begovac and Paul Wagner rounded out the top five.

In the sportsman sprint class, Braxton Lundquist picked up the feature win coming from sixth on the starting grid. Nathan Viau had a good run coming in second and Kristy Karl came from eighth on the grid to finish third. Andrew Karl and Macy Degnan rounded out the top five. Dalton Gustavson won the heat race but struggled in the feature, starting on the pole and falling back to an eighth place finish in the feature. Tanner Hanson won the other heat race.

In the super modified class, Rick Ness found his way back to victory lane for the second week in a row. Scott Degnan came in second and won the heat race Drake Degnan was third and Paul Hosking rounded out the four car field.

In the junior sprints class it was Colten Yelle picking up his first career feature win as well as a win in heat race action. Tanner Rae came in second and Wyatt Ammel finished third. Keagan Jensen and Aubrianna Mathieson rounded out the top five.

In the vintage modified class, it was Dave Broeders picking up the feature win. Jeff Solomon came from sixth on the starting grid to finish second and Harvey Lewis finished third. Chris Broeders and Wayne Pepin rounded out the top five. Pepin was victorious in heat race action.

In the sport mod class, Rick Gustavson raced his way to a heat and feature sweep. Matt Maki IV ca,e in second and Anthony Harper came from seventh on the grid to finish third. Robby Iverson and Matt Valiquette rounded out the top five. Kyle Johnson and Brad Viau won the other two heat races.

In the sport compact class, Andrew Vandrese picked up the feature win. Tanner Olson came from sixth on the grid to finish second and Mike Berube came in third. Veronica Vanderville and Austin Demeuse rounded out the top five. Demuse was the heat race winner.

The Escanaba Speedway returns to action Saturday night for Fan Appreciation Night first green flag scheduled to drop at 6 p.m.
