Collision with SUV kills Niagara motorcyclist

A 21-year-old Niagara, Wis., man was killed Thursday when the motorcycle he was operating collided with an SUV pulling a trailer on U.S. 2 near Baler Drive in Breitung Township, according to the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the crash at 2:19 p.m. and a preliminary investigation shows the SUV was eastbound on U.S. 2 and turned in front of the westbound motorcycle, which collided with the trailer, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. The SUV was operated by a 70-year-old man from Wausaukee, Wis.
The Niagara man was pronounced dead at the site. An investigation is ongoing.
Traffic was rerouted off of U.S. 2 as emergency responders handled the scene.
Assisting were Michigan State Police, Iron Mountain Police Department, Kingsford Public Safety, Integrity Care EMS, Breitung Township Fire Department and Town & Country Towing and Recovery.
