GARDEN — A convicted felon from Garden has been arrested after Michigan State Police (MSP) discovered he was in possession of over three dozen firearms, methamphetamine and other evidence during the execution of search warrants.

Bruce Rochefort, 56, was arraigned Friday in the Delta County 94th District Court on one count of possession of methamphetamine, one count of possession of analogues, three counts of weapons — firearms possession by prohibited person, two counts of weapon — firearms ammunition possession by prohibited person and one count of carrying concealed weapon.

The charges stem from an investigation that began when law enforcement from the MSP Manistique Outpost learned of an individual who was suspected of being in possession of firearms and was a convicted felon. Troopers confirmed that the suspect, Rochefort, was a convicted felon and was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition, according to MSP.

On Thursday, Rochefort was located in the Gladstone area, and a subsequent search warrant was executed on his vehicle. He was then taken into custody.

During the search of the vehicle, troopers located and seized a black pneumatic gun, a double-edged sword measuring more than 18 inches in length, hydrocodone pills and ammunition in four different calibers.

Rochefort was lodged at the Delta County Jail on a $25,000 bond cash/surety. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 9.

The MSP Manistique Outpost/Gladstone Post were assisted by MSP Emergency Support Team, UPSET, MSP Canine Unit, MSP Eighth District Traffic Safety Team, MSP Aviation Unit, Delta County Sheriff’s Office and Rampart EMS.
