U.P. virus cases now top 1,600
ESCANABA — As of Monday, The Upper Peninsula had 1,605 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 264 probable cases and 23 deaths linked to the disease, according to state officials. The state as a whole had 117,406 cases and 1,536 deaths.
Delta County had a total of 224 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 42 probable cases and five deaths; Menominee County had 283 confirmed cases, 41 probable cases and one death; and Schoolcraft County had 19 confirmed cases and two probable cases.
Elsewhere in the peninsula, Alger County had 17 confirmed cases and one probable case; Baraga County had nine confirmed cases and five probable cases; Chippewa County had 49 confirmed cases and 25 probable cases; Dickinson County had 105 confirmed cases, three probable case and two deaths; Gogebic County had 142 confirmed cases, 12 probable cases and one death; Houghton County had 275 confirmed cases, 62 probable cases and one death; Iron County had 88 confirmed cases, three probable cases and one death; Keweenaw County had six confirmed cases and one probable case; Luce County had 11 confirmed cases and one probable case; Mackinac County had 38 confirmed cases and 16 probable cases; Marquette County had 279 confirmed cases, 49 probable cases and 12 deaths; and Ontonagon County had 41 confirmed cases and one probable case.
The numbers for counties across the state do not include infections or deaths in the state’s prison system, which are counted separately.
