STEPHENSON — The West Bagley Homemakers, the charitable volunteer group based in Menominee County and which has organized career fairs the last several years, has once again displayed a commitment to the future of local students. The Homemakers recently awarded 10 trade and technical scholarships for a total sum of $5,000.

Fundraising efforts for the purpose of presenting trade and technical school scholarships to students from Stephenson High School and Carney-Nadeau began in 2022.

In the last four years, the Homemakers have been able to provide 33 scholarships to students entering a technical/trade school program. Most have attended Bay College or Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, or were hired as an apprentice following their graduation, reported Susan Massarini, president of the West Bagley Homemakers.

Students who have been awarded scholarships from the Homemakers seek to work as apprentice electricians, welders, in the medical field and more.

This year, the Homemakers supplied scholarships to seven students from Stephenson High School: Kaycee Beal, Cassandra Engel, Lucas Havelka, Christian Klein, Cheyanne Palzewicz and Asher Priebe. Three students from Carney-Nadeau also earned the Homemakers’ trade scholarships: Dalten Wagner, Miles Tickler and Elodie Lenca.

Arlene Engel, a member of the Homemakers, had the privilege of delivering one scholarship to her granddaughter, Cassandra.

Each scholarship this year was $500.

“Every trade and technical profession is needed and used every single day – not only in our communities but all across America,” stated the Homemakers when announcing the awards.
