Esky softball wins 2

MENOMINEE — The Escanaba softball team picked up two wins over Menominee Thursday in Menominee. The Eskymos finished the opener in five, 18-2, and the nightcap in three, 16-0.

In the opener, Esky scored one in the first, three in the second and six in the third, adding another seven in the fifth.

Anna Boutillier started the Eskymos off with a ground single and, while Paxton Bullen then took her turn at the plate, stole second and reached third on a passed ball. Bullen grounded out but scored Boutillier to put the Eskymos on the board.

The Maroons notched one apiece in the second and third.

McKayla Mott earned the win on the mound for Esky, allowing three hits, two runs (1 earned) and four walks while striking out eight.

Carsyn Segorski led the Eskymos with three RBIs and two hits, and Bullen and Dakota McIntyre both collected two RBIs and one hit. Boutillier, Grayson LaMarche, Lizzy Sliva, Carney Salo, Emily Moore, Abby Hill and Isy Braun all earned one RBI.

In the nightcap, LaMarche emerged with a no-hitter and Esky added 10 in the second and six in the third to seal the game.

LaMarche added four RBIs and two hits, and Carley McInerney finished with three RBIs and one hit. Segorski, Mott, Sliva, Moore, McIntyre and Hill all collected one RBI.

LaMarche was perfect through three on the mound, striking out seven.

The Eskymos travel to Ashwaubenon today to face Bay Port, Kimberly and Appleton East.
