Broncos overwhelm Rapid River
RAPID RIVER — The Bark River-Harris Broncos girls basketball team (5-3) defeated the Rapid River Rockets (0-7) 77-13 Monday night in Rapid River.
Three Broncos — Alaska Peterson (20), Olivia Erickson (13) and McKenzie Hoffmeyer (12) — earned career-high scoring efforts in the win.
“It was nice to see girls get their career highs,” said Broncos coach Matt Richer. “It was a fun game, a lot of smiles. It’s good to have a game like this once in a while. It’s pretty cool to see three girls get their career high in one game.
“It was a good game for us, though. Everyone got to play a lot.”
Lauren Zawada had 15 and Cara Zawacki 10 to also hit double digits for the Broncos.
Megan Dausey (6), Aiyana Semear (3) and Ava McCarty and Lexie Vanoss — both with two — were the scorers for Rapid River on the night.
The Broncos ready for a road contest against the Escanaba Eskymos Friday while Rapid River plays Munising at home also on Friday.
