Mid Pen rally halted by Eagles

STEPHENSON — The Mid Peninsula volleyball team fought hard after a slow start but ultimately fell to Stephenson 3-0 (25-10, 29-27, 31-29) Thursday in Stephenson.

“Those second and third sets were hard fought,” Mid Pen coach Emily Kayser said. “We played a lot more defensive than we’d like, and the ball just dropped a couple times in the wrong place in the last two sets. But, it isn’t something for us to hang our heads about.”

After a slow start in the first set, the Wolverines found their footing in the second and third, forcing both sets into extras.

Kayser pointed out the excellent defense from her team and the long volleys produced from it.

“I was happy with the amount of long volleys we had tonight,” she said. “Stephenson was attacking everything, and I was happy with how we picked them up. I just wish we were able to attack more.”

Mid Pen, which lost the JV match 2-0, resumes at Superior Central Tuesday.
