Bark River-Harris junior Gionni McDonough won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.61 and was second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 43.81.

“It felt good to get it again this year,” McDonough said. “The dive last year wasn’t needed today and felt like an improvement from last year’s finals.”

McDonough also had a good day in the long jump with a jump of 20-00.50 which was good for a second place finish in the event.

Broncos senior Matthew Marohnic came in third in the 400-meter with a time of 53.67.

Bark River-Harris junior Ben Knauf had a pair of nice runs as he took second place in both the 800-meter and 1600-meter runs. In the 800-meter Knauf posted a time of 2:09.74 and in the 1600-meter posted a time of 4:43.00.

Knauf also had success in the 4×400-meter relay as Matthew Marohnic, Ben Olson, Abram Varoni and Ben Knauf as they finished second posting a time of 3:45.64 and also came in third in the 4×800-meter relay with a time of 9:20.83 with his teammates Samuel Varoni, Abram Varoni and Ben Olsen.

Samuel Varoni also skied his way to a second place finish in the pole vault with a leap of 10-06.00.

The girls were victorious in the long jump as junior Emma Zawada posted a jump of 14-11.50 to win over West Iron County senior Lacey Shamion who jumped 14-10.50.

The Bark River-Harris girls were dominant in the relay races as Alexis Olson, Emma Zawada, Carli Erickson and Julia Nault won both the 4×100-meter and 4×200-meter relays. In the 4×100-meter relay they posted a time of 53.14 and posted a time of 1:51.84 in the 4×200-meter relay.

Escanaba sophomore Andrew Hamlin won in the high jump with a jump of 6-02.00 and took fourth place in the high jump with a jump of 19-06.00. Hamlin also took second place in the 4×400-meter relay with Eli Englund, Adam Schroeder and Alex Ison with a time of 3:36.71.

“I know I could have done better than I did today,” Hamlin said. “I will be jumping at the Nike Nationals in Eugene, Oregon and I will show up for that meet better than I did today.”

Gladstone junior Andrew Karl won the pole vault with a height of 14-00.00 and took third in the long jump with a jump of 19-09.00.

“I didn’t get what I wanted but a win is a win,” Andrew Karl said. “My goal was anything above 15′ 6” but there was just a little too much head wind to make that happen.

Maggie Karl was victorious in the pole vault for the girls the sophomore won with a height of 10-06.00.

“I was just working on my form going up to another pole,” Maggie Karl said. “I put in a lot of hard work this season and it paid off here at the finals.”

Escanaba freshman Rayne Martin won the high jump with a jump of 5-00.00 to knock off Gladstone’s Maggie Karl who finished second with a jump of 4-10.00.

Manistique senior Gwen Brewster won the shot put with a throw of 33-01.50.

Superior Central junior Will Spranger won the 200-meter with a time of 23.31 and was third in the 100-meter with a time of 11.66 and also took third place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 43.49.

Ashdeyn Gerow had a good day in distance running. The Mid Peninsula freshman ran the 1600 and 3200-meter runs, posting a time of 4:55.52 in the 1600 and a time of 10:59.76 in the 3200.

“I was nervous coming into the event,” Gerow said. “My goal wasn’t necessarily to win but to be under 4:59.00 and I did that.”

Big Bay de Noc sophomore Destiny Bleau had a trio of wins as she won in the 100, 200 and 400-meter runs. Bleau had a time of 12.91 in the 100, 26.01 in the 200 and a time of 58.05 in the 400-meter.

“I was just trying to stay focused today,” Blue said. “This year meant a lot to me because I’m trying to get noticed by colleges so I can continue competing past the high school level.”

Bleau also came in second in the high jump with a jump of 5-04.00.
