Javurek, Cougars top spring Skyline honors
ESCANABA — Superior Central baseball tied with Norway to lead the way in the Skyline Central Conference standings.
They were followed by Bark River-Harris and North Central.
However, it was a Bronco who earned the coveted Player of the Year award — Nick Javurek.
The remaining All-Conference selections were the Jets’ Jesse Sampson, Adrian Mercier and Wyatt Riley; the Cougars’ Kyle Frusti, Parker Maki, Mathew McLaury and Hayden Rockhill; BR-H’s Johnnie Robinette and Aidan Johnson; and Norway’s Gannon Bray, Chase Carlson, Nolan Amundson and Brent Lagina.
Receiving honorable mentions were North Central’s Luke Gorzinski, BR-H’s Zach Robinette, Superior Central’s Dakota Maki and Norway’s Michael Peterson.
On the softball side, Norway led the pack ahead of BR-H, Superior Central and Munising.
The Broncos’ Lexi Berg, Esther Oswald and Lauren Zawada were selected to the All-Conference team along with the Cougars’ Madisyn Tyner, Shae Lampinen and Stella Charlebois. Joining them are Munising’s Maci Cornish and Kristin Riley and Norway’s Kali Stanchina — who also earned Player of the Year honors, Hannah Burklund, Averie Popp and Donna VanHolla.
Receiving honorable mentions were Munising’s Rose Syers, BR-H’s Faith Javurek and Norway’s Mackenzie Gilroy.
