LaFord leads Wolves past Superior Central

CARNEY — Brett LaFord scored a career-high 40 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Carney-Nadeau boys rolled past Superior Central 89-43 in a home Skyline Central Conference basketball contest Tuesday night.

“(Brett) was pretty aggressive going to the basket,” C-N coach Paul Polfus said. “He got quite a few points off of that and got past the help guy and did a nice job finishing.”

Max Baumler and Beau Koffman added 15 points each, and Koffman also added 10 rebounds. Brayden Kakuk chipped in seven points and six steals for the Wolves (6-5, 4-4 SC), who shot 32 for 85 from the field.

“The rest of the guys did a nice job, too,” Polfus said. “We did a good job on the defensive end and had three kids in double figures. It was good.”

Parker Maki and Kyle Frusti led the Cougars (2-9, 0-8 SC) with 11 points each.

The Wolves, who won the JV game 47-29, visit Forest Park Friday while the Cougars host Rapid River.
