Knights sweep Wolves in softball doubleheader
CARNEY — The Norway Knights were in control from start to finish here Tuesday as they won both games of their softball doubleheader with the Carney-Nadeau Wolves taking game one 16-0 and game two 18-2.
Norway’s Kendall Burklund had a monster game in the first game as she drove in four runs on four hits including a single in the first inning that scored two runs and later drove in two more on a two-run double in the fifth inning.
Burkland also started on the mound for the Knights and gave up zero runs on two hits with 10 strikeouts and four walks.
The Knights scored five runs on four hits in the fourth inning as Kara Stanchina drew a walk to score a run and Burkland had a two-run single. The Knights brought in another run on an error then Lily Tomlanovich singled to score another run.
In the fifth inning, the Knight added 10 runs on seven hits. The Knights tallied 13 hits in the first game to only two for the Wolves who also committed nine errors in the first game.
In game two, the quickie took charge as they scored six runs in the top of the first inning. Addyson Burkland tripled to score a run and Tomlanovich hit an inside the park home run and Devynn Ross tripled to score a run.
The Knights added eight runs on three hits in the top of the second inning to put the Knights up 14-0.
Lila Moraska earned the win for the Knights as she allowed two runs on two hits with eight strikeouts and one walk.
The Knights out hit the Wolves 13-2 in the second game.
