Museum, lighthouse to remain closed
ESCANABA — The Board of the Delta County Historical Society has decided to continue not to open the Sand Point Lighthouse this summer because of the coronavirus pandemic. The board also decided not to open the Delta County Historical Museum and Archives at that time though it thought perhaps it might open them later in the summer if there was some considerable abatement of the virus.
“Unfortunately, it does not appear that this virus is going away soon. With that in mind, and considering the average age of the volunteers we would be asking to help at the museum and archives as well as the age of many of our visitors, the Board has decided that it would be better to keep the museum and archives closed for the balance of our summer season. The Board does this reluctantly, but it does seem the right thing to do,” the board stated.
