Business After Hours at country club
ESCANABA – The next Business After Hours will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Escanaba Country Club (1800 11th Ave. S.) and is co-sponsored by The Escanaba Country Club, Mulligans Food & Spirits, Northshore Flats Waterfront Condos and Michigan Broadband Services. The event will give attendees the opportunity to socialize, network with local businesspeople, eat and register to win prizes.
Steak Feed in Gladstone
GLADSTONE — Gladstone American Legion Post 71 will serve a Steak Feed dinner on Thursday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the post hall, 802 Delta Ave.
Post 71 members get a discounted price — must show card. The event is open to the public.
Credit repair
IRON MOUNTAIN — Menominee River Habitat for Humanity is holding a workshop to help people raise their poor credit scores on Thursday through a partnership with Huntington Bank. The workshop will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library, found at 401 Iron Mountain St. in Iron Mountain. RSVPs are encouraged to be emailed to hfh@habitatmr.com.
Church rummage sale
GLADSTONE — Memorial United Methodist Church at 1920 Lake Shore Dr. in Gladstone (just past McDonald’s) will be hosting a large rummage sale on Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m.; Friday, May 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on Saturday, May 2 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
A wide variety of household items are affordably priced. Clean clothing, outer wear, shoes and boots will be available. All clothing is free.
The church is also holding a scrap metal drive until May 8.
Spring Tree Sale pickup delayed
ESCANABA — The Delta Conservation District’s Spring Tree Sale pickup has been rescheduled due to weather-related delays.
Tree sale pickup will now take place at the UP State Fairgrounds in Barn #10 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 1 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 2.
Anyone who is unable to pick up their trees during the designated pickup window is encouraged to contact the Delta Conservation District to make alternate arrangements by calling 906-553-7700.
2026 U.P. State Fair market pre-registration
ESCANABA — The 2026 Upper Peninsula State Fair (UPSF) market pre-registration for swine, lamb and goat is now open. Pre-registration forms must be submitted online no later than Friday.
Forms can be found at upstatefair.net. Exhibitors are encouraged to regularly check the UPSF website and Facebook page for updates.
DNA submission and YQCA certification are due May 27. The 2026 Fair Book will be published online by May 15 or sooner. Online registration opens June 1. Final online market animal registration is due July 1.

Rapid River Congregational Church rummage sale
RAPID RIVER — The Rapid River Congregational Church will host a rummage sale Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 7891 Cleveland St.
A luncheon, including soups, sandwiches and bars, will be available for purchase.
Draft horses to prepare garden
ESCANABA — The Bark River Area Draft Horse Club plans to till the Escanaba Community Garden on Saturday, May 2 beginning at 11 a.m. The public is invited to watch the annual spring tradition.
The garden is located at the corner of U.S. 41 South and 23rd Avenue South. MSU Extension and MSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers help coordinate the garden.

Women’s golf league
Highland Golf Club opening meeting for Women’s league will be Wednesday, May 6. A social period begins at 5:30 p.m. with the meeting taking place at 6 p.m.
Bay Sages monthly meeting
ESCANABA — The regular monthly meeting of Bay Sages will be held Thursday, May 7 at 10 a.m. in the Joseph Heirman University Center at Bay College in Escanaba.
This month’s speaker is Jim Soderberg, presenting “The Polar Bear Expedition, 1918-1919.”
Bay Sages is an organization established to provide educational opportunities for older adults residing in the Delta County area. Dues for the year are payable at the meeting or can be mailed to Bay Sages at Bay College and include monthly meetings, coffee and cookies and a wide variety of educational opportunities for members.
Guests and new members are always welcome to attend. Food items and monetary donations for the Bay College Food Pantry are gratefully accepted at all meetings.
Spring Salad Luncheon
ESCANABA — A Spring Salad Luncheon is to be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 819 1st Ave. S. on Friday, May 8 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Salads, veggies, breads, fruits, coffee, tea, milk, jello and desserts will be served. Please bring a friend.

ESCANABA — Central United Methodist Church, 322 S Lincoln Road, will be holding a pasty sale on May 8. All orders must be made by 10 a.m. on May 4.

When ordering, specify if pasties are to be made with or without rutabaga.
Habitat golf tournament
IRON MOUNTAIN — Habitat for Humanity’s Menominee River branch is holding its “Raise the Roof” golf outing on Thursday, May 21 at TimberStone.
Money from sponsors and entrants goes toward helping neighbors perform needed repairs on their homes.

ESCANABA — Lakeview Cemetery is accepting donations for its annual rummage sale. People may make drop-offs to 2110 Third Avenue South in Escanaba from now until May 23 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

ESCANABA — The Escanaba High School Class of 1976 has scheduled its 50th reunion for Sept. 26 at the Highland Golf Course.

Donations sought for book sale
ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audio books, DVDs and music CDs to be sold at its annual book sale at the Waterfront Art Festival. Funds from the annual sale are used to publish Voter Guides and for other voter services.
Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition. The league is not able to accept and store large quantities of books and requests the books meet the donation criteria.
Large print books are often requested.
Books can be delivered during normal business hours to the Ludington Centre, 1112 Ludington St. Donors are asked to use the 11th Street entrance, Suite 208, and look for the league’s sign. For pick-up, call Pat Rudden at 906-280-1789.
Delta County Cancer Alliance seeks Donations
ESCANABA — The Delta County Cancer Alliance (DCCA) is in need of bed pads. Many of the DCCA’s clients who are going through cancer treatments appreciate the convenience of using bed pads for comfort and cleanliness at a very challenging time. The DCCA will accept donations at their office, 3430 Ludington St, Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Delta Animal Shelter requests donations
ESCANABA — The Delta Animal Shelter is in need of the following donations; Purina Cat Chow (blue bag), Purina Kitten Chow (yellow bag), NutriSource chicken/rice dog food, Purina One chicken/rice dog food, canned dog food, canned cat/kitten food, soft dog treats, scoopable cat litter, clay cat litter, bleach, liquid Lysol, paper towels, dish soap, garbage bags, power laundry detergent, hand sanitizer and dog collars/leashes.
The shelter is currently caring for many rabbits and is particularly in need of rabbit food and hay.
Donations can be dropped off at the shelter, 6975 County Road, 426 M 5, during business hours of 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or outside the building in their donation box.
Gladstone church offers clothing
GLADSTONE — The Memorial United Methodist Church, 1920 Lake Shore Drive in Gladstone, has a free clothes closet with coats, and shoes available in most sizes. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays or by appointment by calling 906-428-9311. Donations are also accepted.
