GLADSTONE — The conditions were not perfect but area golfers were able to get on the course for the GNC 9-hole event at the Gladstone Golf Course here Monday.
The Escanaba girls came away victorious with a score of 199. Menominee was second with a score of 215 and Marquette was third with 225. Fourth place went to Kingsford with a score of 240 and Gladstone rounded out the field with a score of 251.
“Our girls picked up a big win today,” Eskymos coach Jake Berlinski said. “Kamrie had a good day but still has another level as a two-time U.P. Champion and she will get there by the time U.P. Finals comes around.”
Escanaba boys had a below average day but still came away with a third place finish as junior Jared Plourde shot a team best 40 and Carson Artley had a score of 41.
“Carson loves golf and has put a lot of time into his game,” Berlinski said. “Today wasn’t his best day but he still puts up good numbers even on a down day.”
Marquette took the win in the boys division with a score of 151, Gladstone was second with 159 and Escanaba was third with 167. Kingsford came in fourth with 174 and Menominee was fifth with 195.
Senior Owen Gereau shot a 39 to lead the way for the Braves. Marquette golfers held down six of the stop seven spots. Owen Olkkonen for Kingsford shot a 38 to lead the Flivvers while Boden Moore posted the best round of the day coming in at 37.
