Candy Swetkis SISU Strikfest raised a record $8,700

On May 9th, Escanaba High School hosted the 3RD Annual “Candy Swetkis SISU Strikefest” Memorial Softball Tournament. The Gladstone Braves captured first place with Escanaba coming in second. The SISU Strikefest is not only a quality tournament, but it's also a fundraiser for the Escanaba Girls’ Softball Program and the Candy Swetkis Memorial Endowment. As a proud, long-time Escanaba Junior High Science teacher, Candy wanted a scholarship to be awarded annually to an Escanaba senior who wanted to become a teacher. NORWAY — The Escanaba Eskymos came up on the wrong side of the scoreboard as they fell 5-3 to the Norway Knights here Tuesday. Norway jumped into the lead in the second inning as Tristan Lessor had an RBI-single and Landon DeBakker laid down a sacrifice bunt to score a run. Kellan Amundson doubled, scoring two and Elliott Kraemer grounded out to score a run.
