Minor girls fall

in State Quarters

ROCHESTER HILLS — The softball season ended for the Escanaba Minor Girls’ Little League All-Stars (age 9-10) here Monday in a tough 2-0 state quarterfinal loss to St. Clair.

St. Clair, taking advantage of three errors and the only walk-off Emma Parlato, scored both runs in the second inning.

Becca Noblet’s leadoff bunt single in the third was Esky’s lone hit.

Emma Parlato took the loss despite throwing a one-hitter. She struck out 10, including six in the row in the third, fourth and fifth frames.

Esky, which stranded two baserunners in the third, committed four of the five errors in the contest.

Oaks Ladies

GLADSTONE — Pat DeGrave and Karen McCorkle both carded 43 to lead the Oaks Ladies League Monday in Gladstone.

Debbie Peterson 44, Holly Sundman and Rosie Spindler 45, Sally Erkkila 46, Becky Papaik 48, Mary Clement, Sue Cossette, Sharon Pinar, Jamie Pond, Denise Porath and Morgan Whitehead 49 were the remaining under 50 scores.

DCJGA Terrace Bluff

GLADSTONE — The Delta County Junior Golf Association held a tournament at the Terrace Bluff recently.

The top scores for each division are as follows:

Boys (9-10) — Wyatt Gallagher 48, Payton Hathaway 52 and Kolten Breitzman 53; Girls (9-10) — Alana Nault 62, Allison Young 73 and Emmie Wallin 76; Boys (11-12) — Christian VanDamme 48, Clayne Cousineau 49 and Christian Wandesega 54; Girls (11-12) — Varah Veeser 55, Sarah Carter 56 and Caragan Thill 63; Boys (13-14) — Owen Gereau 45, Carson Artley 46 and Trevor Thorbahm 46; Girls (13-14) — Kamrie Scott 56, Lily Nelson 61 and Julia Nault 64; Boys (15-18) — Shane Wallin 41, Bradley VanDamme 42 and Isaak Wallin 54; Girls (15-18) — Cierra Scott 53, Abby Hill 59 and Olivia Lemire 61.
