ESCANABA — Two members of the Big Bay de Noc Black Bears and one member of the Hannahville Soaring Eagles earned Northern Lights League First Team honors this week.
Alix Bleau — who was named player of the year — and Camryn Pederson were both named to the first team from the Black Bears.
Bleau, a sophomore, averaged 15.6 points per game this season with 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game. She was 40% on 3-point field goals.
“Alix is a versatile scorer that can drive the lane, post up or shoot the three,” said Black Bears coach Bob Pederson. “She is a great leader and defender.”
Pederson, a freshman, had an average of 10.2 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game and 3.7 steals per game.
She also went 64% shooting free throws.
“Camryn had a motor that wouldn’t and always gave everything she had,” said coach Pederson. “She has great vision and basketball IQ for a freshman.”
Seventh-grader Jenessa Platt of Hannahville rounded out the first team.
Big Bay’s Piper Jones was named to the second team, and Char Sagataw of Hannahville earned an honorable mention.
