ESCANABA — The Escanaba Junior Varsity football team finally got on the gridiron Thursday, beating Marquette 34-12 at Escanaba Athletic Field in their delayed season opener.

Casey Bray threw a pair of touchdown passes and scored a TD for Esky.

Trent Lawson caught TD passes of 18 and 19 yards for a 14-0 lead, then Bray ran six yards to make it 20-0 at halftime.

Lawson also ran 12 yards for a TD, then Bray hit Jake Lippens on the two-point conversion pass in the third quarter.

Ben Johnson returned a pass interception 26 yards for another TD for Esky.

Nate Benninger had TD runs of 12 and nine yards for Marquette.
