11 Broncos honored in WestPAC awards

IRON RIVER — The Iron Division of the West-PAC conference recently selected its all-conference football team for 2020, and Bark River-Harris — who finished 3-2 and hosts St. Ignace on Friday for the first playoff round — filled out 11 of 30 players.

The Broncos’ senior Tyler Racicot was selected as the defensive player of the year, and landed a spot on the First Team Defense as a defensive back.

Senior Carter Zawacki was selected as a First Team linebacker, and senior Max Shiverski also earned a spot as a defensive end.

Offensively, Broncos’ senior quarterback Nick Javurek won the position on First Team Offense as well as punter, and senior Aiden Johnson took a running back position.

Junior Trevor Lippens filled out fullback, and senor Riggins Stenberg earned a guard spot. Junior Dom Ortega was also selected as tackle.

Finishing off the Bark River accolades was senior Dylon Lippens who was selected as an end.

Nate Lundin of West Iron County was honored as Offensive Player of the Year, and the Wykons’ Nathan Thomson earned the Special Teams Player of the Year spot.

The Broncos’ senior Max Hall recieved an offensive Honorable Mention as well as Manistique’s Wyatt Gierke.

Bark River senior Kenton Bartoszek also received an Honorable Mention for defense as did Manistique’s Lucas Gould.

The Emeralds finished the shortened season 2-3 and travel to Mancelona Friday for the first round of the playoffs.
