Wolves hit stride, top Stephenson

STEPHENSON — The Carney-Nadeau Wolves remained undefeated through five volleyball matches here Tuesday night in a 3-0 (25-10, 25-9, 25-12) victory over the Stephenson Eagles.

“One of the biggest differences was our serving was good again tonight,” said C-N coach Steve Kedsch. “We’ve struggled a little in our last two matches, but it was good to Malorie Baumler break out in her serving tonight. Malorie had a long service run which enabled us to pull away in the first set.”

Baumler had a seven-point run in the opener and finished with five aces. Mackenzie Walcher also had five aces to go with 14 digs. Taylor Kedsch recorded four aces, 16 kills and nine digs. Liana Blahnik added seven kills and four blocks. Haley Ernest tallied 20 assists and eight digs in the Wolves’ second Skyline Central Conference match.

“I thought we were passing well, especially off our serve receive,” coach Kedsch said. “Our setter Haley Ernest did a good job getting the ball into position. Taylor did a great job hitting tonight. She hit the ball all over the court and Mackenzie is starting to pick up and do real well.

“We can do the little things a little better, but we’re really starting to see a good flow. The girls are communicating well. At this point in the season, we’re doing pretty well there.”
