Broncos tame Mustangs with net-play

MUNISING — The Bark River-Harris Broncos reaped the benefits of strong net play and serving here Tuesday night in a 3-1 (25-17, 25-13, 24-26, 25-14) volleyball triumph over the Munising Mustangs.

BR-H senior middle hitter Kassidy Roll led the way with 10 kills and six blocks. Tressa Ives had six kills to go with 10 service aces and eight digs and Carly Varoni added eight aces, a kill and 22 assists.

“Strong and aggressive play at the net by Kassidy and strong serving made a difference in Game 2 and 4,” said BR-H coach Jennifer Ives. “We started the night with strong serving that allowed us to capitalize on some freeballs and set up a strong offensive attack. Our back row in general had a really great defensive match. We were ahead in Game 3 before hitting a slump and losing in a nail-biter. However, seeing how the girls regrouped in Game 4 was a good sign that our team is moving in a positive direction.”

Senior libero Selena Britton collected four aces, two kills and nine digs for the Broncos, who visit North Central Thursday.
