Tax load already too high

EDITOR:

On Tuesday, Nov. 5, Delta County voters will decide if Delta County landowners will pay an additional .8924 millage to Bay College. This will be an addition to the 3.3076 mills already being paid.

Taxpayers in Delta County are already generous to the college, giving them over $3.9 million each year. If approved, the new millage will be an additional 20-year obligation totaling over $21 million.

The average household income in Delta County is $44,639 compared to a national average of $61,372. Many residents are already struggling to meet the current tax load. Is it right to increase this burden even more?

Bay College needs to prioritize and budget within its current budget as we have to.

Vote no on Bay college millage on Nov. 5.
