ESCANABA — The Escanaba Public Library will host Esky Baroque, the area’s early classical chamber music group, for a special recital on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m.

The group is made up of choral singers and instrumentalists who perform classical music from the 17th and 18th centuries. Formed only a few years ago with their inaugural concert in May 2023, Esky Baroque has been popular with the public and continues to grow.

In Esky Baroque’s ranks are professionals, amateurs, and students. Three youth from a concerto competition last year have joined the group.

At the library recital, members of the group will perform in a variety of small ensembles, each showcasing their individual instrumental or vocal talents.

“This event will feature small ensembles, and smaller scale works in a more intimate settingthan the larger, formal concerts,” says director John Ignatowski.

This event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Friends of the Escanaba Public Library.

No registration is necessary. For more information, interested parties may visit escanabalibrary.org, call 906-789-7323, or swing by the library at 400 Ludington St.

Starting at $3.50/week.
