Health official: Keep social distancing

ESCANABA — As Michigan’s economy continues to reopen, Public Health, Delta and Menominee Counties (PHDM) Health Officer Michael Snyder said people should still keep social distancing guidelines in mind.

“It’s important to recognize that the virus is still present within our communities,” he said.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people can practice social distancing by:

– Maintaining a distance of at least six feet (about two arms’ length) from other people.

– Not gathering in groups.

– Avoiding crowded places and mass gatherings.

So far, Snyder said people in the counties of Delta and Menominee have done a great job of following these guidelines.

“It has allowed our communities to slow the spread and to re-engage the economy,” he said.

However, he reminded local residents that the threat posed by coronavirus has not gone away.

“It’s imperative that we continue to do the social distancing,” Snyder said.

Starting at $3.50/week.
