Players seek cast for productions
ESCANABA — Tom Knoll and Jeff Woerpel will be directing the Players de Noc musical production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” They are looking for a dynamic cast of older teens and adults to play nine roles. Auditions are being held Sunday July 24 and Tuesday July 26 at 7 p.m. on the stage at the Bonifas. Actors do not need to prepare anything for auditions as pages of the script will be used for reading lines and Knoll will teach everyone a short excerpt from one of the show’s songs.
Next up will be a murder mystery co-sponsored by the Island Resort and Casino. This dinner theatre event will take place at the casino on Sept. 8. Auditions for the murder mystery will take place Sunday, July 31 and Monday, August 1 at 7 p.m. This is a fantastic opportunity for actors looking to be in a show with a shorter time commitment. There will be just one showing and tickets are available on the casino’s website or by calling 1-800-682-6040. New director Laura Haagensen invites you to come down to the green room at the Bonifas and read through a few lines from some of the world’s most famous mystery solvers.
In October, Players will again be portraying famous former Escanaba area residents in Playing Dead – A Cemetery Walk with Players de Noc at Lakeview Cemetery. Auditions are September 11 and 12 in the Bonifas studio at 7 p.m. Returning director Nicole Rossell is looking forward to having new characters come to life and bringing back some of last year’s favorites. Performances will be October 13, 14 and 15.
The holidays this year will include not only the annual Christmas radio show, but also two one-act children’s productions. This year’s radio show will be It’s a Wonderful Life, once again directed by Kathy LeDuc. Auditions for all ages will be December 4 and 5 on the stage at the Bonifas. The holiday shows are the classic A Charlie Brown Christmas directed by Karin Beveridge and It’s a Wonderful Neverland directed by Sam Komay. It’s a Wonderful Neverland uses the characters of Peter Pan in a reimagined version of It’s a Wonderful Life. Audition information will be coming soon. Players is looking for actors aged 10-16 years.
