4th Generation Carries on Tradition
FORD RIVER — The Ford River Lions Club recently welcomed two new members to its growing family tradition of service and community involvement. Scott Pendergraft, Sr. proudly presented a Lions Club membership certificate to his daughter, Brooklyn Pendergraft, during a recent club gathering. Brooklyn’s brother, Scott Pendergraft, Jr., also joined the organization but was unable to attend the presentation.
With Brooklyn and Scott Jr. becoming members, the Pendergraft family now celebrates four generations of Lions Club membership and service. The family tradition began in 1959 when their great-grandfather, John Pendergraft, became a member of the Ford River Lions Club. His son, Jim Pendergraft, continued the legacy by joining in 1970, followed by Scott Pendergraft, Sr. in 2024.
The family’s dedication to community service extends even further. John Pendergraft’s daughter, Jayne Church, her husband Bill Church, their son Patrick Church, and John’s son-in-law Dale Deloria are also active members of the organization.
The Pendergraft family believes strongly in serving others and giving back to the community, values that have been passed down through generations. Their continued involvement reflects the Lions Club motto, “We Serve,” and highlights the important role families can play in strengthening local organizations and communities.
