Reminder of sidewalk snow removal rules

GLADSTONE — The City of Gladstone would like to remind residents the city’s snow removal ordinance requires that public sidewalks be cleared of all snow and ice within 48 hours after a snowfall in residential districts and within 24 hours in the business district.

Property owners are responsible for the removal of snow and ice from all sidewalks that border their property; including any approaches that may extend toward the street. Tenants – please check your leases to see if your landlord has transferred that responsibility to you.

The sidewalk must be cleared the entire width of the sidewalk down to concrete once the accumulation has stopped.

If snow or ice is not removed, the city may cause to have the snow or ice removed and the property owner is responsible for the fees associated with the removal.

If you would like to report a sidewalk not shoveled, contact the city of Gladstone at 906-428-4586, ext 4, or by email at rbarron@gladstonemi.org.

Starting at $3.50/week.
