Nurse aide training program offered at Bay College

ESCANABA — Bay College is offering a 96-hour nurse aide training beginning Monday, September 13. The Nurse Assistant Training Program provides classroom instruction and hands-on clinical training to prepare students to qualify for the State of Michigan CNA examination.

Bay College’s nurse aide training consists of classroom lecture/lab and hands-on clinical training at a local long-term care facility. Classroom and laboratory training will take place at Bay College (Main Campus) in Escanaba. There is a fee for training, which is eligible for full reimbursement, plus the cost of books and scrubs.

The median wage for nursing assistants is $14.83 per hour.

“The local long-term care facilities in our area have an immediate need for Nurse Aides. Many of these facilities are offering to sponsor the training fee for eligible individuals seeking employment at their location and are offering sign-on bonuses, health insurance, and paid time off,” said Renee Lundberg, manager of training and workforce development,

Students are required to pass a criminal background check and attendance is mandatory.
