Medical issue causes auto crash

IRON MOUNTAIN — A Channing woman was sent to the hospital Tuesday after a medical issue caused her to lose control of her vehicle.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain post responded to the crash on US-2 in the parking lot of the First National Bank in Iron Mountain. Upon arriving, it was discovered the vehicle driven by the 59-year-old woman was traveling westbound on US-2 when she had a medical emergency. The driver crossed the centerline, struck a construction barrel, drove across the lawn of Advance Auto Parts and struck two unoccupied parked vehicles in the parking lot of First National Bank.

The driver was transported to Dickinson County Hospital by Integrity EMS.

Assisting at the scene was the Iron Mountain Police Department, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Breitung Township Fire Department and Integrity EMS.
