UPSET drug arrests in Iron River

IRON RIVER — Four people were arrested after detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) executed a search warrant in Iron River Wednesday. Drugs and weapons were found in the residence.

After a month-long investigation, detectives from UPSET obtained information that resulted in a search warrant at a residence located on Blossom Avenue in Iron Rive.

Prior to executing the search warrant detectives obtained information that the suspects were in possession of illegal narcotics and a loaded pistol.

Since the suspects residence was in proximity of the local school, the Iron River Police Department notified school officials at the West Iron County High School of the police related activity in the area. The school was temporarily placed on “lockdown” until the suspects were taken into custody.

After executing the search warrant detective located various prescription pills, evidence of drug distribution and two firearms. Two people were arrested for charges related to the distribution of cocaine and other various drugs. The other two suspects were arrested for violations relating to their probation orders.

All four suspects were lodged at the Iron County Jail. Their names are being withheld pending their arraignment. The investigation remains ongoing. No other information is being released at this time.

UPSET was assisted by the Iron River Police Department, Caspian Police Department, Iron County Sheriff’s Department, and Michigan State Police.
