Astronomical group plans public viewing

ESCANABA — In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first humans to set foot on another celestial body, Delta Astronomical Society (DAS) will host a public observing event in Ludington Park, Friday night, July 19, or Saturday night, July 20, (weather permitting) at dusk — about 9 p.m.

The moon, Jupiter and Saturn will be observed.

The public is welcome to join club members, and to bring along their own telescopes.

The public observing event will be held in the grassy area at the end of the parking area by the bath house on Aronson Island in Ludington Park.

Please dim your headlights as you enter the parking area and bring your red or green lens flashlights to protect other observers’ night vision.
