AAUW meeting April 13
ESCANABA — The Escanaba Area Branch of American Association of University Women (AAUW) will hold its April meeting at Leigh’s Winery beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13. Wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres will be available. The special guest speaker for the evening will be Kelly Jefferson, president of OSF HealthCare St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group.
Members are encouraged to bring a guest and reservations may be made no later than April 10 by calling 906-789-1905.
AAUW is open to men and women holding an Associates Degree of higher. Started in 1881, the organization is globally recognized for its advancement of equality for women and girls through advocacy, education and research.
Delta Kappa Gamma scholarship offered
ESCANABA — The Delta Kappa Gamma Society has announced it will again award a local high school scholarship to a senior girl planning a career in education.
Delta Kappa Gamma is an international organization of women educators who promote professional and personal growth of women educators. They support and encourage educational excellence and intercultural understanding. The Beta Sigma chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma is composed of Escanaba, Menominee, and Iron Mountain-Kingsford.
Previous local winners of this scholarship are: 2021 – Kendra Ann Bouchard (Escanaba), 2020 – Emlyn Verbrigghe (Escanaba), 2019 – Taylor Rae Myers (Escanaba), 2018 – Amber Lynn Smith (Bark River), 2017 – Erica Rubick (Rapid River), 2016 – Mackenzie Leisner (Escanaba), 2015 – Mikaela Jefferson (Escanaba), 2014 – Kristen Leigh Bergstrom (Escanaba), 2013 – Anissa Lynne Godfrey (Gladstone), 2012 – Margaret A. Rose (Escanaba), 2011 – Lauren Kleinman (Escanaba), 2010 – Jordan Dalgord (Rapid River), 2009 – Whitney Veihl (Bark River), and 2008 – Emily Robinson (Bark River).

Dance in Rock
ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Road, on Sunday, April 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. Live music will be provided by Just The Two Of Us. There is a cost at the door and a freewill donation lunch will be provided.
