DAR to meet Jan. 9
MARQUETTE — The Onagomingkway Chapter, NSDAR (National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution), will hold its monthly meeting on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021 from 2 until 5 p.m. EDT either online using Zoom or at the Big Boy Restaurant, 1950 US Highway 41 W, Marquette.
If you have questions about genealogy and joining DAR, members will be happy to answer them after the meeting. Call Melissa at 226-7836 with questions.
Homeless shelter rules
ESCANABA — Individuals who are homeless and wishing to stay at the Hope At The Inn mobile homeless shelter must first go to The Salvation Army and register for the program. The Salvation Army is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Do not just show up at the homeless shelter site expecting to be admitted.
Volunteers are greatly needed to help staff the three nightly shifts: 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., 10:30 p.m. to 3 a.m., and 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. For more information about volunteering, call Lisa at 420-1311.
Salvation Army social services available
ESCANABA — Social service assistance from the Salvation Army is available 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the Community Services Building. The Soup Kitchen is open noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
