Proposal 3

EDITOR: I just finished reading a recent article in your paper entitled “How much cruelty is a pork chop worth?” (October 6th 2022) the author describes conditions as a pregnant sow goes through in what the author calls the “inhumane realities of industrial animal production”. As I read the article I could not help but think of the “inhumane treatment” of women and babies in the “inhumane cycle” of abortion after abortion in abortion clinics. Let's think of the methods used to force a child to leave the comfort and safety of its mother's womb (remember these ...

EDITOR: All politics are local. We need people in office who do not have a personal agenda in office, are willing to listen to others and their opinions with respect and are dedicated to making our government the best it can be. To that end, I am recommending Theresa Nelson and Kelli VanGinhoven. I would like to share my reasons for recommending both of these people. I have lived in Escanaba Township for 45 years. I am voting for Theresa Nelson because I feel she is committed to making decisions that benefit all the people in District 3. Her commitment to serve is evidenced by her work ...

EDITOR: I’m writing in support of two Delta County commissioners. For District 3 I support Theresa Nelson who has served her constituents since 2017. With the redistricting she now has to run against another commissioner from what is District 5. I worked in low income housing for 28 years and worked with Theresa when she worked at Community Action (for 39 years) from time to time. She was always very professional and compassionate to my residents. She takes her position on the Delta County Board seriously and votes for what will help all the people of Delta County. Theresa is an ...

EDITOR: We are constituents in Theresa Nelson’s district and could not be any more proud to be represented by the best commissioner on the Delta County Board. Firstly, she has the best attendance record of not only the board meetings but also her assigned committee and city meetings. An astonishing example of this is when she was going through radiation. During the height of Covid, Ms. Nelson politely requested the other Board members wear masks. They refused. Theresa continued to show up. That’s true dedication to her constituents and her job. To her credit, Ms. Nelson was ...

EDITOR: Teresa Nelson represents the citizens of District 3 on the Delta County Board of Commissioners. Currently the only woman on the board, Nelson has honorably and effectively represented District 3 since first taking office in 2017. Now Nelson is running against Bob Barron who currently represents District 5. When county board district lines were redrawn earlier this year, Barron’s residence was incorporated into District 3. The difference between candidates is illustrated by each commissioner’s position on the Area Agency on Aging. At the July 19, 2022 county board ...
