EDITOR: The third proposition on the ballot this season states, “Establish new individual right to reproductive freedom, including right to make and carry out all decisions about pregnancy, such as prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, contraception, sterilization, abortion, miscarriage management, and infertility.” Whew — all that stuff that women already have a right to, but they slipped in that word “abortion” in the middle. EDITOR: In the congressional race for Michigan’s 1st District, I support Dr. Bob Lorinser to replace Rep. Jack Bergman. Dr. Lorinser started his medical career with the Indian Health Service in New Mexico. He then worked over two decades as a family physician in Marquette, before serving for 10 years in the U.S. State Department in Pakistan. In 2020 he returned to Marquette, intending to retire. EDITOR: Are you sick of all of these misleading political ads? I know I am. Some ads are outright lies. Of course these ads are from “committees” and not a particular candidate. One ad that is getting to me is the one that says ..she voted for property tax increases... Your property tax is set and no politician can raise your property tax. Property taxes are your mileage times your taxable value.
