Response to letters

EDITOR: This letter is to set the record straight in response to a couple of previous letters. First, I am rerunning for Delta County Commissioner in District 4. As most know, when one of the five commissioners cast a vote, it effects the entire county. I stand on four principles and have voted as such for 12 years with no compromise: U.S. Constitution, property rights, individual freedoms and; financial stability for the county.  I’ve been accused of not attending some advisory committee meetings. These aren’t county board meetings, but committees that the county board has ...

Please color in the circle beside Kelli’s name and vote for Kelli on November 8th. Carole and Bill Charon Escanaba

Pay cut

EDITOR: I’m a little late on this one. I just now got a chance to get up to speed on the city council meeting last Thursday, Oct. 5. I have worked for about 46 years. I have been an adult employee (over 18) for 46 plus years. 36 of those years have been in management, self-employed, or ownership. Never have I been told by my owner, or superior, that I would have to take a pay cut. I always got a raise every six months to a year and bonuses. Even when I didn’t think that I deserved it. Imagine getting hired at $14 an hour. Then, your superior comes to you and says you now get $10 ...

Proposal 2

Your vote is your own precious bit of power over our federal republic, gift and birthright of our founders. They understood that government is power, and power corrupts, so they tried to limit government power. So, is it sensible to trustfully hand your bit of power to the very government that desperately wants to count it in their favor? Seems counterintuitive to me. Proposal 2 would cement executive branch power over your precious birthright in the Michigan constitution. ...

EDITOR: In today’s day and age there is nothing more important than the push to encourage young people to vote. As a college student, away from home, it is extra important to stay involved. That’s why I’m voting absentee. As the age of our politicians begins to increase, the amount of human rights we as Americans have begins to decrease. As an American woman I must acknowledge the fact that my reproductive rights are now at risk, making this election immensely important for the future of women young and old and in this country. It is us as a population that must elect the ...
