Pay cut
EDITOR:
I’m a little late on this one. I just now got a chance to get up to speed on the city council meeting last Thursday, Oct. 5.
I have worked for about 46 years. I have been an adult employee (over 18) for 46 plus years. 36 of those years have been in management, self-employed, or ownership. Never have I been told by my owner, or superior, that I would have to take a pay cut. I always got a raise every six months to a year and bonuses. Even when I didn’t think that I deserved it. Imagine getting hired at $14 an hour. Then, your superior comes to you and says you now get $10 an hour. But, you are doing the same job.
I have been on several board of directors and been a manager, working for a board. I was president of a very large vacation condo board of directors. We were unhappy with the manager that we had. We discussed his performance and someone mentioned a reduced wage. Heck, he wasn’t doing the job at the higher wage. What makes you think he’s going to do any better at a 34% reduction?
If Mr. Jordan is not performing up to your standards then tell him. If he doesn’t get better then let him go. The last thing I would want is for the salary reduction made public. How embarrassing.
