Misleading ad

EDITOR: In a recent television ad, Jack Bergman took credit for getting fiber optic lines installed in rural areas for Internet and cell phones, “Working for the people of the U.P. and Northern Michigan”. He voted against the bill that’s paying for this. In the same vein, he also voted against the measures to bring inflation down. What integrity. Claim credit for getting things done but voting against the bills that are passed to get it done. Voting the party instead of the people. How do you sleep at night? Christine Derouin Cornell

EDITOR: There are two elements of daily life we take for granted. That we are alive (life) and we live within a society of our making (governed by laws). Instances in which these two elements become intertwined can cause confusion. While science cannot be changed (gravity will always be gravity), our laws and their applications are subject to change as values in society change. EDITOR: As I ride around Delta County just days before an election, I am dismayed at how few political yard signs I see. On streets where I one saw candidates for public office being visibly promoted during other election years, I now see empty lawns or a lone sign or two posted between the beginning and end of block-long rows of houses. Is this because Democrats are intimidated by the violent MAGA extremists who plotted an insurrection and the kidnapping of a governor? Comment on conflict of interest

EDITOR: Christine Williams who was the chairperson of the planning commission submitted a letter accusing Commissioner Robert Barron of having a conflict of interest concerning the solar ordinance. I am involved in a solar project in the St. Nicholas area. For a year and a half we dealt with the planning commission and their recommendations to the county board.
