Proposal 3
EDITOR:
The third proposition on the ballot this season states, “Establish new individual right to reproductive freedom, including right to make and carry out all decisions about pregnancy, such as prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, contraception, sterilization, abortion, miscarriage management, and infertility.” Whew — all that stuff that women already have a right to, but they slipped in that word “abortion” in the middle.
It’s quite the proposition, it pretty much forbids the state to regulate abortion after fetal viability, but not prohibit if medically needed to protect a patient’s life or physical or mental health.
It also prohibits prosecution of an individual or person who violates (the laws established regarding the destruction of an innocent human life.) Sorry, I added that last part. Forgive me, I’m biased towards saving human life, not killing the most innocent and defenseless of us.
Abortion, the ending of a human life is the exact opposite of reproduction. And it’s horrible that we work hard to create a law that allows it rather than defends the rights of the unborn. The worst criminal in our society is given their day in court, their due process. However, the most innocent and defenseless of our species’ fate is left up to the whim of the birthing person. They aren’t mothers until after the baby is born.
Science has progressed to a point in human nature that there is no reason to destroy human life weeks, months, after conception. Not with a single you can never be prosecuted for it amendment to a state’s constitution.
Aren’t you glad your mother chose life for you?
