ESCANABA — Another week of racing is in the books at Escanaba Speedway, and its time for this weeks Q&A. This week Daily Press sports writer Adam Hinch got to sit down with youth micro sprint driver Julia Maki.
Maki will be back in action Sunday and you can do down at meet her and all the other drivers for Fan Appreciation Night on Sunday. Grandstand open at 5 p.m. with racing beginning at 7 p.m..
Adam Hinch: What got you into racing?
Julia Maki: I do ice racing, and when I went to the races and saw the cars I knew I wanted to do it.
AH: What is your favorite football team? Why?
JM: Chicago Bears, because that’s my dad’s favorite team.
AH: What is your favorite subject in school?
JM: Math.
AH: What do you like to do on weekends you don’t race?
JM: If there’s softball I play that. Otherwise, play with my friends.
AH: What is your favorite cookout food?
JM: Hot dogs.
AH: What is the funnest part of racing?
JM: Going fast.
AH: What sports do you play?
JM: Softball, basketball and racing.
AH: What is your favorite food of all?
JM: I really like hot dogs.
