NEGAUNEE –Bottom of the seventh tied game. It’s the situation Escanaba senior Ben Johnson was in during Thursday’s road game against Negaunee.

Johnson, who threw 23 pitches in a 9-1 loss to Kingsford a day earlier, got a pop out to start the frame. Then Chase Cloutier committed an error and Johnson issued back-to-back walks to load the bases. Five pitches later, Johnson issued a bases loaded walk, giving the Miners a 10-9 win.

The Eskymos (6-3) committed four errors to Negaunee’s 0.

Freshman Brody Ison finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and scored three times. Nolan Bink was 2-for-3 with four RBI and a stolen base. Johnson, Mikaiden Hughes and Bon LaChance all had two hits with LaChance adding two RBI.
