Bark River-Harris softball swept by Norway

BARK RIVER — A big comeback in game one propelled Norway softball to a pair of victories, 5-4 and 12-6, over Bark River-Harris on Monday.

The Broncos got on the board in the bottom of the third when Ella Gonzalez hit a two-run single. Abbie Ingersoll singled on a ground ball to the shortstop in the fifth inning to score a run and extend the Broncos lead to 4-0.

Jordyn Moln hit a lead-off double to start the sixth inning for the Knights and Victoria Cooper on a line drive to left to put runners on the corners with no outs. Emma Dube and Peyton Paquette each had run producing hits to cut the Knights deficit to 4-2. Jessa Rossler scored on a wild pitch and Anna Debidart hit a ground out to the shortstop but brought in another run and tied the game at four.

Paquette singled in the top of the seventh to bring in a run and the Broncos went three up, three down in the bottom of the seventh to end the game.

Moln pitched a complete game for the Knights in game one allowing four runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

Ingersoll pitched a complete game for the Broncos in game one allowing five runs on five hits with 10 strikeouts and three walks.

The Broncos dropped game two despite registering more hits than the Knights. Faith Javurek led the Broncos with three hits in four at bats.

The Knights scored four runs in the first inning on two hits and capitalized on two errors by the Broncos and led 4-0 after one.

The Knights added four more runs in the second inning to extend the lead to 8-0.

Taylor Klee got the start on the mound for the Broncos in game two allowing eight runs on five hits with three strikeouts and three walks.

Kara Stanchina pitched a complete game for the Knights in game two allowing six runs on 11 hits with 10 strikeouts and one walk.
