Manistique baseball suffers two losses to Pickford

PICKFORD — Manistique baseball found itself on the wrong ends of a doubleheader against Pickford on Thursday, losing 3-0 and 11-2.

Both teams were strong on the mound in game one. Cooper Curtis got the start for the Emeralds, giving up three runs on six hits with three strikeouts and no walks.

Gunner Bennin got the start for Pickford, giving up no runs on three hits with six strikeouts and two walks.

Kody Brudvik, Masin Tryan and Cooper Curtis each collected hits in the loss.

With Pickford up 1-0 Owen McConkey singled on a bunt to the pitcher to score a run.

The Emeralds had no answer for the Panthers in game two of the doubleheader. Pickford put the game away in the second inning as they scored five runs. The big blow in the inning as Mason Andrzejak hit a two-run single to make it 4-2.

Pickford used a group of five pitchers to give up two runs on three hits with ten strikeouts and two walks.

Dawson Bosanic got the start for the Emeralds, giving up seven runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and four walks in three and a third innings.
