Bronco baseball earns thrilling doubleheader sweep over Manistique

BARK RIVER — A thrilling doubleheader saw Bark River-Harris baseball improve to 8-0 on the season with a sweep over Manistique, taking game one 4-1 and game two 5-4 in walk-off fashion.

Game one

The Broncos were first to get on the board as senior Ethan Ives tagged up on a flyball to left by Ben Shiverski to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead.

Masin Tryan hit an RBI single for Manistique in the third inning which tied the game at one.

In the bottom of the third, the Broncos took the lead back when Shiverski hit a RBI single and another run score on an error by Manistique and the Broncos led 3-1.

Dominick Lantagne had a solid day on the mound for the Broncos allowing one run on three hits with nine strikeouts and one walk.

Game two

The Broncos got on the board first in the second inning as Lantagne singled on a flyball to left that allowed freshman Gabe Spear to score and the Broncos led 1-0.

In the bottom of the third the Broncos added to their lead as senior Charlie Guenette hit a grounder to the shortstop then reached on a bad throw that scored Shiverski and the Broncos led 2-0.

The Emeralds tied the game in the top of the fourth as Cooper Graphos hit an RBI single and sophomore Jayce Goudreau grounded out to the shortstop for an out, but was credited with an RBI on the sacrifice and the game was tied at two all.

The Broncos took the lead back on the bottom of the fourth as senior Ethan Ives came through with an RBI single to put the Broncos back in front 3-2.

The Broncos held a 4-3 lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning when freshman Evan Goode grounded out to the first baseman, however Goudreau scored and the game was tied at 4-4.

Junior Lucas Hall came away with the walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh as the Broncos captured the win.
