Bay baseball snaps skid
LaCROSSE, Wis. — The Bay College Norse snapped an 18-game losing streak, posting a 12-10 victory over Western Technical College in the second game of a baseball doubleheader here Sunday.
Bay secured the decision by scoring twice in the eighth inning after dropping the opener 11-1 in five frames.
The Norse (2-19) collected 13 hits in the nightcap, including three apiece by Hector Araguayan and Xavier Whittle.
Carlos Velarde and Sam Williams had two each.
Araguayan drove in three runs, and Velarde and Williams added two RBIs apiece. Araguayan also rapped a double.
Bay used three pitchers, including Graft Craft, who struck out two and allowed two hits in the final 2 2/3 innings.
The Norse took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning of the opener on a single by craft.
Western Tech answered with five runs in its half of the fourth and six in the fifth.
Jared Crow worked the first four innings and absorbed the loss. He struck out one, walked four and gave up five runs on six hits.
Bay managed just three hits off Kole Kerkhoff.
The Norse return to Wisconsin this weekend, visiting the Carroll University JVs Friday, Ripon College JVs Saturday and Milwaukee Area Tech Sunday for twinbills.
