ESCANABA — In its third week, the Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association basketball poll saw movement almost exclusively in Division 4, boys and girls.

In Division 4 boys, Wakefield-Marenisco (5-1) and Norway (5-2) tied for fifth, knocking Cedarville-DeTour off the list. The top remained the same with Ewen-Trout Creek (5-0) leading, followed by North Central (9-0) — after a 67-23 win over North Dickinson and a 70-44 win over Rapid River — and Rudyard (5-0), who are still locked in a tie for second. Munising (7-0) remained fourth.

Ewen-Trout Creek earned a second-place spot in the Michigan AP High School Poll for Division 4 just behind Southfield Christian. Rudyard came in third, and North Central collected the fifth spot.

The Division 1-3 boys rankings remained the same except for records, Menominee (7-1) — who notched a fourth-place ranking on the AP poll for Division 3, Escanaba (6-2), Kingsford (5-1), Westwood (6-1) and Jeffers (7-0).

For Division 4 girls, Carney-Nadeau (6-1) fell to second after a 48-46 loss to North Dickinson (6-2) — who knocked Ewen-Trout Creek off the list to take fifth, with Baraga (8-1) being voted into first. Carney also earned a 10th place spot on the AP poll.

Pickford (5-0) moved up a place to third, and Rudyard (3-2) fell from second to fourth.

In Division 1-3, the rankings also showed no movement: Calumet (7-0) — who received a fourth-place nod on the AP poll, Houghton (10-0), Sault Ste. Marie (8-3), St. Ignace (5-2) and Westwood (5-2).
