BR-H wins in double overtime
HARRIS — The Bark River-Harris Broncos boys basketball team (2-5) earned their second win — and first home win — of the year in thrilling fashion Monday night as they bested the Forest Park Trojans (2-6) 57-54 in double overtime in Harris.
We played our best all-around game of the year,” said Bark River head coach Nick Lippens. “Played with good energy on defense and had good ball movement on offense.”
A Trevor Lippens drive to the hoop for two points put the Broncos up 57-51 with time dwindling down in the second period of overtime. Sam Mckissick then hit a three for the Trojans to drag them within one triple of the tie to force a third overtime. The final try, a three from Gavon Rintala, bounced off the backboard, sealing the Broncos a win on their home floor as the final buzzer sounded.
Anthony Miley led the Bronco in scoring with 18 points, while Trevor Lippens had 16, and both Logan Getzloff and Kaden Drossart had 10.
“We had a lot of guys step up in big moments and hit key shots,” coach Lippens commented. “Really good game to pull off the win and, hopefully, get things moving in the right direction on the season.”
Gavon Rintala (23) and Sam Mckissick (15) led the offensive attack for Forest Park in the game.
The Broncos head to Rapid River Thursday to play the Rockets.
